Bottles or breastfeeding? It is my own personal opinion to feed your baby as you see fit. There are a lot of good reasons to breastfeed and there are a lot of good reasons to bottle feed.
Yes, the best milk is breast milk. In my case I tried, but I was not producing a lot of breast milk with my first child. She was a premature infant and I think that may have had a lot to do with it.
With my son, I was able to breastfeed. After a few days I noticed how uncomfortable it was. It got to the point of being painful. My nipples were very sore. I also noticed that he was not getting enough milk. I had to keep re-adjusting due to the soreness.
When I did bottle feed I was able to make sure my babies were getting full. I was lucky enough to get on the WIC program for the first year. That helped out a whole lot. Baby formula was just so expensive.
Even selecting the right baby bottles and nipples seemed to add up quickly. Plus there were so many options to choose from. Then I had to sterilize each bottle before use to make sure they were cleaned properly.
In the end I am just glad to know that I had choices. How did you feed your baby? Share your story so that new mom's will know what to expect. Knowing what options available is a big help.
